Preventing Infection and Complications
Penile implant surgery may lead to complications, with infection being the most common one. However, in the hands of an experienced surgeon, the rate of complications is less than 2-3%. The most common source of infection is bacteria that exists in the skin. To prevent infection, Dr. Kadioglu uses the “No-touch Technique (NIT)”. This technique ensures that there is no contact between the penile prosthesis and the skin, which reduces the incidence of contamination with the bacteria in the skin.
Dr. Kadioglu also believes that the management before the surgery is as important as the care after the surgery. For this reason, he provides specific instructions on what to do and what to expect before and after the surgery. These instructions aim to prevent complications such as reservoir herniation and hematoma (postoperative bleeding) formation, in addition to infection.
